About

December 15th, 2008

My name is Andrew LeRoy Stanley, I go by Andy and am told repeatedly by my mom that my middle name is pronounced Luh-Roy, not LEEROY.  I was born in Wahiewa, Hawaii and have a sister, Jenny, eight months younger than me, figure that one out and you win a gold star.  While still very young our parents Jim and Linda moved back to Bakersfield, California.  Luckily they brought me and Jenny along.

I grew up in Northwest Bakersfield where I attended Norris Elementry and Middle School, delivered papers for the now defunct Northside News and participated in many a Boy Scout activity.  Some will argue I grew up in Oildale, while others will argue that we lived west of the railroad tracks and therefor did not qualify for Oildale status.  But one undeniable fact is that I did attend North High School, which is right smack in the middle of Oildale.  It was during this time I finally made rank of Eagle in Boy Scouts and graduated from delivering newspapers to volunteering for local political campaigns.

Greencastle, Indiana was then my destination where I attended DePauw University for four years and graduated with a BA in Political Science.  Unfortunately the winters there are very cold and the beaches are too far away, so I moved back to Bakersfield.  Over the next several years I worked for Ken Small Construction and BJ Services before going to work for then Assemblyman Kevin McCarthy in 2004.

I continued with Kevin through his first year as Congressman in 2007, representing California’s 22nd district I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the people and the issues of the district’s many communities.  Congressman McCarthy has shown himself to be an amazing talent and I urge everyone to support him as he continues to do great things in the years to come.

At the beginning of 2008 I began working for Kern County Supervisor Ray Watson to help complete projects throughout his district, encompassing most of western Kern County.  These are challenging times due to ever growing constraints on our budget from the state and a never ending demand for services.

Most importantly though, in July of 2006 Korrine and I were married and in December of 2008 we will be having our first child, Claire Noelle Stanley.

I believe your home turf is oft referred to as “Royaldale.” Or so I’m told.
